Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet is used to treat Type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a common condition that causes the level of glucose (sugar) in the blood to become too high. It’s a lifelong condition that can affect your everyday life. You may need to change your diet, take medicines and have regular check-ups to lead a normal life. Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet is composed of dapagliflozin and metformin. This medicine works by blocking the sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) enzyme. This lowers renal reabsorption of glucose and increases urine excretion of glucose via inhibiting SGLT2. In some cases, you may experience specific common side effects, such as frequent urination, mild skin rash or itchy skin, or diarrhoea, stomach ache, and loss of appetite. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently. Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily in the morning. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or worsens (if your blood sugar is too high or too low). Do not take Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet if you are allergic to any component present in Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet . If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet . Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet since it may produce unpleasant side effects. Before starting Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet , let your doctor know if you have any history of heart, kidney or liver disease; breathing problems; blood disorders; dehydration; alcohol use, low blood pressure; and yeast infection of the genitals. Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet should not be taken if you have type 1 diabetes mellitus or severe kidney or liver disease.

Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet is used to treat high blood sugar levels in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The detailed uses of Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet are as follows:

  • Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Helps control high blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes by improving insulin sensitivity, reducing glucose production in the liver, and promoting glucose excretion through urine.
  • Improvement of Glycaemic Control: Increases insulin sensitivity and reduces glucose production in the liver, helping maintain better blood sugar control.
  • Diet and Exercise Support: Prescribed along with lifestyle modifications such as a healthy diet and regular exercise to improve overall blood sugar control.

Side Effects of Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet

  • Loose and Watery Stools (Diarrhoea): Inform your doctor if symptoms occur. Stay hydrated with water and electrolyte-rich fluids, eat a bland diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast), and avoid spicy/greasy foods and excess dairy. Seek medical attention if diarrhoea is severe, persistent, or accompanied by dehydration, blood in stools, or severe stomach pain.
  • Gas (Flatulence): Tell your doctor if symptoms persist. Drink enough water, eat balanced meals, avoid overeating, and consider light exercise such as walking or yoga to support digestion. Take medicines for gas only if your doctor advises.
  • Weakness: Get adequate rest, drink enough fluids, eat balanced meals, reduce stress, limit alcohol and caffeine, and include light physical activity as tolerated.
  • Indigestion: Take the medicine with food if advised, eat smaller frequent meals, avoid spicy/fatty/acidic foods, stay upright after meals, avoid carbonated drinks, and consult your doctor if symptoms persist.
  • Stomach Ache: Drink water or clear fluids, avoid tea/coffee/alcohol, eat bland foods, avoid lying down immediately after meals, and avoid acidic or spicy foods. Consult a doctor if pain is severe or persistent.
  • Headache: Stay hydrated, rest in a quiet and dark room, use a cold/warm compress if needed, maintain good posture, and practice relaxation techniques. Consult your doctor if headaches are frequent, severe, or associated with fever, confusion, or weakness.
  • Abnormal Stools: Your doctor may adjust the dose if required. Drink plenty of fluids, increase fibre intake (fruits, vegetables, whole grains), avoid processed/spicy/fatty foods, and maintain regular meals and exercise.

Key Benefits

  • Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet treats type 2 diabetes mellitus and contains metformin and dapagliflozin.
  • Metformin improves how your body uses insulin and helps lower blood sugar levels, and it generally does not cause hypoglycemia when used alone.
  • Dapagliflozin helps reduce blood sugar by removing excess glucose from the body through urine and may also reduce the risk of heart failure in certain patients with type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
  • It may be used alone or with other medicines, along with diet and exercise, to control blood sugar levels.
  • Helps reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications such as kidney damage (diabetic nephropathy), eye damage (diabetic retinopathy), and nerve damage (diabetic neuropathy) when blood sugar is well controlled.

How Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet Works

Dapaone M 10/500 Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: metformin and dapagliflozin. Metformin (a biguanide) lowers blood glucose by reducing glucose production in the liver and improving insulin sensitivity without increasing insulin secretion. Dapagliflozin (an SGLT2 inhibitor) lowers blood glucose by increasing glucose excretion through urine.
